In recognition of the complexity of the mobile source (motor vehicle pollution) problem, the Repair Excellence Council of New Jersey, Inc. was incorporated as a New Jersey not for Profit Corporation in June 1998.

The council’s founding purposes are:

·        To demonstrate that an industry-government-education partnership can be formed to solve complex mobile source (automotive and truck) technician skill problems.

·        To increase the quality and quantity of skilled mobile source (automotive and truck) service technicians needed to repair the high-tech vehicles of today and in the future.

·        To nurture and enhance the professionalism and image of the mobile source repair community.

·        To coordinate, promote and distribute information about automotive technician training and education on a statewide basis through the use of coalitions of education, manufacturing, automotive service and repair, public interest groups and government organizations.

·        To promote and provide technical and educational information and materials on automotive repair programs to the automotive repair industry, automotive technicians, the general public, academic institutions, as well as local, state and federal government agencies.
